Using the Helix tool
The Helix tool is used to create a spiral or helix object. You can use this helix object as a path for a swept solid object.
Example:
Start a new file.
Expand the Draw panel in the Home tab and click the Helix button.
Type 0, 0 as the center point of the helix and press ENTER; the
message, “Specify base radius or [Diameter]:” appears in the command line.
Type 60 and press ENTER; the message, “Specify top radius or [Diameter]
<50.0000>:” appears.
Type 0 and press ENTER; the message, “Specify helix height or [Axis endpoint Turns turn Height tWist] <1.0000>:” appears.
Select the Turns option from the command line.
Type 10 as number of turns and press ENTER; the message, “Specify helix height or
[Axis endpoint Turns turn Height tWist] <1.0000>:” appears.
Type 0 as the height and press ENTER; the spiral curve will be created as shown in figure.
Example:
Start a new file.
Type HELIX in the command line and press ENTER.
Type 0,0 as the center point of the helix.
Type 60 as the base radius and press ENTER.
Press ENTER to accept 60 as the top radius.
Select the turn Height option from the command line.
Type 30 as the turn height (pitch) and press ENTER.
Type 300 as the total height of the helix and press ENTER; the helix will be created as shown in
figure.
